Tick-associated communities: the communities formed by ticks, their hosts & symbiotes & tick-borne pathogens

How do parasite adapt to the biotic heterogeneity in space and time that define the communities of their hosts, symbionts and/or their competitors? What are the main evolutionary and/or ecological constraints that structure the assemblage of endosymbionts within and among tick populations and species? Do tick adaptations explain their invasion potential and do the ecological consequences of invasions follow simple ecological rules? We address these kinds of questions by coupling field-driven inferences and experimental infections.
